How To Choose Conveyor Belt For Baking Production Line

With the improvement of people’s living standards, there are higher requirements for the quality and packaging of baked foods. It is crucial to choose a suitable conveyor belt when producing baked foods. It not only affects production efficiency, but is also directly related to the quality and safety of food.

  1. Food grade material: Make sure that the conveyor belt is made of food grade material, such as polyurethane (PU) or Teflon (PTFE). These materials are non-toxic, odorless, and will not release harmful substances. They meet food safety standards and are suitable for direct contact with food.
  2. High-temperature resistance: In the production process of bread and cakes, high-temperature links, such as baking, are required. Therefore, the conveyor belt should have good high-temperature resistance, withstand high temperatures of at least 150°C and remain stable at high temperatures, not be easy to deform or release harmful substances.
  3. Easy to clean and disinfect: The conveyor belt should be easy to clean and disinfect, with a smooth surface, no pores and seams, to reduce the adhesion of bread and cake residues and the growth of bacteria, and ensure sanitary conditions during the production process. In terms of material, both PU conveyor belts and Teflon conveyor belts have good easy cleaning properties.
  4. Wear and oil resistance: In cake and bread production, the conveyor belt may be exposed to grease and wear, so it needs to have good wear and oil resistance to ensure stability under long-term use and reduce maintenance frequency.
  5. Size and shape adaptability: Select the conveyor belt size and shape that matches the production line. For links that require tilting or turning, you can choose a conveyor belt with patterns or sidewalls to prevent cake and bread from slipping during transportation.
  6. Hygienic design: The conveyor belt’s design should comply with hygienic design principles, such as using seamless joints or low-profile joints to reduce dead corners and facilitate daily cleaning and disinfection.
  7. Compliance with industry standards and regulations: Ensure that the selected conveyor belt complies with local food safety regulations and industry standards, such as FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration), EU (European Union), and other certifications, to ensure the production process’s compliance.

In general, polyurethane (PU) conveyor belts are commonly used in baked food production. Due to their good high-temperature resistance, easy cleaning, food-grade safety, and wear and oil resistance, they can meet the specific needs of bread and cake production lines. When choosing a specific conveyor belt, you should also consider the specific layout of the production line, production efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, and choose the most suitable specifications and suppliers.
