Do You Know About Silicone Conveyor Belts

Conveyor belts can be seen everywhere in the industrial industry. Different conveyor belts are selected for different mechanical equipment and working environments, including oil-resistant belts, anti-slip belts, flame-retardant belts, high-temperature-resistant conveyor belts, etc. Today, SCplus Belt will introduce you to silicone conveyor belts among high-temperature resistant conveyor belts.

Silicone Conveyor Belts

Silicone conveyor belts are a highly active adsorption material, an amorphous substance, insoluble in water and any solvent, non-toxic and odorless, with stable chemical properties, and do not react with any substance except strong alkali. The chemical composition and physical structure of silica gel determine that it has many characteristics that are difficult to replace by other similar materials: high adsorption performance, good thermal stability, stable chemical properties, and high mechanical strength.

The main component of silica gel conveyor belts is silicon dioxide, which is purified and processed from natural minerals into granular or beaded form. Different microporous structures are formed due to different manufacturing methods, and their microporous structures have good affinity for water molecules. The most suitable hygroscopic environment for silica gel is a greenhouse (20~32%) and high humidity (60~90%), which can reduce the relative humidity of the environment to about 40%.

The characteristics of silicone conveyor belt are:

  1. Food grade, widely used in the food industry.
  2. High-temperature resistance can be used in an environment of 150℃, and the instantaneous temperature can withstand 200℃. Pure silica gel conveyor belt has stronger high-temperature resistance.
  3. Anti-stick: can not stick to sugar, chocolate and other foods with high sugar content.
Food grade Silicone Conveyor Belts

Advantages of food-grade silicone conveyor belt

  1. Food grade: this feature is an important reason for its use in the food industry;
  2. High temperature resistant, conventional silica gel belts can withstand high temperatures of 100-500 degrees, and the chemical properties are stable;
  3. Anti-stick, silica gel belts do not stick to sugar, chocolate and other foods with high sugar content.

Disadvantages of food-grade silicone conveyor belts

  1. Expensive. Silicone belts are more expensive than ordinary conveyor belts;
  2. Low hardness, so most conveyor belts in the oven use Teflon mesh belts/cloths;
  3. Poor roller performance. Silicone belts have no lateral stability and the material is relatively soft.
